Tattle Box

Well... I had my Tattle Box for the last two years, and it had a lot of success!  I was so excited to spice it up this year and created a monster out of the box... and then I saw that Mariah at Giggles Galore had already posted a "Tattle Monster".  Although this was my own original idea, I still want to give her credit since she posted first.  So, be sure to check out her blog!!

This can easily be made out of a Kleenex box.  Just cover it in paper like a present and decorate :)  You could even have the students decorate it.  I always have a pencil and notepad ready for the students.  This is great because students are getting extra writing practice and leaving you with a little extra time... and some sanity haha.

  1. Oh, that's very cute. Do you act on all the tattles, or do the kiddies just feel better about writing it down? I've never tried that before.

  2. They feel a whole lot better writing it down! I have a few options in my classroom. We have a student listener, who they go to first. The student listener will try and help them solve the problem (this allows each of them to see how many tattles we really do get, and they start to learn which ones are important and which ones should just be left alone). Then we have a Tattle Teddy, where they can go whisper in his ear. Students understand that I can't help them with those tattles because "he keeps his secrets". Then we have the box. Before we do any of those we sit down as a class and come up with a chart on what a tattle is, and when you should go to the teacher (someone being hurt, threats, emergency etc.)

For the box I do tell them that if they feel as though I need to help them then they need to put their name on the note. Most students don't put their name on it though... so just the action of writing it down is helping them. (And some of the tattles are soooo adorable to read haha!!!)
