Changes Ahead!
Changes are coming!! I have received a job offer I couldn't refuse... only "problem" is it's with 5th Grade. Ok, that's not really a problem but, whew... what a jump. I am beyond excited to step outside of my K-1 comfort zone and try something new. I will continue to keep the website link the same for now. Best wishes on your preparation for the school year ahead!

School Auction
One of our biggest fundraisers for the school year is our School Auction. Each class is in charge of creating something that can be auctioned off during the evening. This year I stuck with the melted crayon theme again... but had my Kinders make it their own using their thumb prints to finish the picture.
I hope its new owner loves it as much as I do!!! <3 Love Love Love IT!!!!

Arctic Freeze
I have been so bad at updating this blog... I PROMISE I am working on it!!! Since are temperatures are extremely cold, I felt this would be the appropriate time to upload all of the arctic projects we have been working on. We just had our "Peeking Penguin Night", this was a night for prospective families to come and take a "peek" at our Kindergarten and Preschool classes. So, my Kinders were hard at work decorating for penguin night.
Students created Polar Bear Paintings. |
OF COURSE we had to spend a week learning about penguins. |
Igloos out of packing peanuts... we all know how those can add up quickly. This was great for fine motor. |
One of their favorite projects was creating a Walrus. I saw this idea online a while back . ADORABLE! They LOVED using a variety of materials: plate, bowl, spoons, toothpicks foam, etc. |
And, one last peak at their wonderful art. <3 |

Lighting up our Names
This cute activity really brightened up our hallway. I wish I could hang them in the classroom from the ceiling, but that luxury was taken away this year :(
The students cut out a variety of colored bulbs, they had to count the letters in their name and cut out that many. They added tin foil to the top. We wrote their names, one letter on each bulb. Students traced the letters with glue, added some glitter, some string, and we ended up with these. :) ENJOY!

Lighting the Tree
Just created a center for my lovely Kinders. This one has 20 bare trees, with a number in the star. They need to place a specific number of lights on the tree, matching the number shown in the star. The trees go up to the # 20 and there are three different sheets of colored bulbs. Check it out on TPT if you are interested...

Elf on the Shelf Tears
Oh my... We started our Elf on the Shelf this week, and if you have done this you know the rule. DO NOT TOUCH THE ELF! Of course there are always certain students that have to "test" and see what they can get away with... and of course that happened. HOLY TEARS! The students were crying that a student touched him and he couldn't return home.
So what to do??!! Well I couldn't take him away from the whole class, so I came up with this poem and made it look like he wrote it out (very small scribbled writing... harder to do than I thought haha) I figured it would look more realistic if it was written out.... otherwise you could always place him at the computer to make it look like he was typing it.
Either way, here is the poem I wrote (he wrote):
Please stop touching me,
It made me so sad.
I couldn't fly home,
and miss Mom and Dad.
You have all been so good,
so please let me be.
I want to tell Santa
All that I see.
If you don't touch me
My magic can grow.
Then at night...
to the North Pole I'll go!
Sincerely,
(name of your elf)
Hope this helps...ENJOY!
